"If Your Mirror Breaks" album release show
The Ex + Brader Mûsikî
Tonight, The Ex presents their latest album “If Your Mirror Breaks” with Brader Mûsikî as their special guest. This Arnhem-based virtuoso singer and musician will open with a show of his own.
The Ex has been around for 45 years. Since their founding, they have been a text book example of innovation, depth and development. The band was founded in 1979 in a punk era, a time in which the sky seemed to be the limit in terms of experimentation. They have managed to stay hungry for and passionate about music ever since.
Using their words, “Forward in All Directions”, The Ex is in constant development. During their voyage of discovery, they explore different genres and styles that include punk, rock, jazz, noise, folk, ethnic music, improv and combinations of these.
The band has turned into one of the most adventurous and innovative acts in the Netherlands and beyond. The late Steve Albini was a big fan and they have received praise from all corners of the world of music, fans and critics alike.
Special guest tonight is singer and musician Brader Mûsikî (1958). He hails from the village of Mûsika in Turkey and is famous among the Kurds. On his 18th, he ended up in a Turkish jail, after which he went underground. A decade later, he moved to the Netherlands where he settled in Arnhem. He refers to himself as Kurdish Dutch and supports himself on saz. He is still releasing music regularly through the label Terp.
