Since The Lemonheads were founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986, the band has had many different members, but frontman and co-founder Evan Dando has stayed at the helm for over 35 years. The Lemonheads started out as a typical punk band, but went through an evolution during the 90s, with more attention going out to rock, lyrics and Dando’s vocals.

Partly thanks to their albums ‘It’s a Shame About Ray’ and ‘Come on Feel The Lemonheads’, they developed into one of the most popular bands in the early 90s. Especially on that first album, Dando’s vocals take center stage. After their breakthrough in 1993 Dando hit a rough patch, but he got himself back together and in 1996 the band made her comeback, with once a again a new line-up of band members. After a succesful tour in 1997, The Lemonheads announced a hiatus at the Reading Festival in the UK.

In the six years that followed, Dando focused on his solo career, but in 2006 The Lemonheads once again made a comeback with the release of their self-titled album ‘The Lemonheads’. Since then, Dando has been alternating between making solo music and making music together with The Lemonheads. In 2022 their breakthrough album ‘It’s a Shame About Ray’ turns 30 years old. To celebrate, they are re-releasing the album with new photo’s, a DVD and extra material, and the band is going on tour, which this show is part of.
