The Wytches have concocted a dark mixture of garage rock, surf and grunge, utilizing feedbacking guitars that remind us of bands like Pixies, Sonic Youth, Black Sabbath and The Cramps.
The British band takes you through a world of heartbreak, desolate graveyards, crying clowns and other imagery that could have been taken straight from Tim Burton movies. The music is sinister, oozing with anguish and melancholy, with the raw, almost screaming voice of front man Kristian Bell as a guide. Bell sounds like the lost child of Kurt Cobain (during the Bleach era) and an agitated Jack White. On Friday 14 November, the band is coming to Merleyn for a live performance.
