Every October, we descend into darkness during Soulcrusher, where bonecrushing riffs collide with melancholic and dark brooding soundscapes. From doom, sludge, black, noise, death metal and everything in between and beyond, we operate at the cutting edge of heavy and extreme music, always exploring what’s next.
It’s our pleasure to present you the first names for Soulcrusher 2026. On 9 & 10 October we will welcome the Portuguese black metal masters and Soulcrusher alumni Gaerea alongside progressive metal titans Anciients, Italy’s rising black metal force Bianca, Belgium’s ferocious sibling project BLOED, the relentless UK sludge metal act Dimscûa, and Louisville’s noise rock powerhouse Young Widows. More acts to be announced.

Gaerea from Portugal is known for their intense, atmospheric sound that blends black metal, post‑metal, and industrial elements into a cohesive and immersive experience. Their music is characterized by dissonant riffs, hypnotic dynamics, and deeply emotional vocals, creating a sense of tension and transcendence that recalls both inner turmoil and spiritual catharsis.
On stage, Gaerea presents a striking visual identity—full-face masks, minimal lighting, and a tightly choreographed performance—which heightens the emotional impact of their songs. Their releases have earned critical acclaim across the European underground scene, positioning them as one of the most compelling and forward‑looking acts in contemporary extreme metal. Gaerea is not just a band, but an experience: raw, immersive, and impossible to ignore. After their fierce Soulcrusher performance in 2022 they will return with a vengeance.

The Canadian prog metallers Anciients blend sludge, doom, and technical death metal with melodic, dynamic songwriting. Their sound is built on massive riffs, soaring leads, and seamless shifts between crushing heaviness and atmospheric clarity, creating epic yet emotionally charged tracks. With critically acclaimed albums and a reputation for delivering powerful live shows, Anciients stand out as an adventurous and dynamic force in modern heavy music. Definitely one to watch.

Bianca is an exploration steeped in the subversive fire of black metal, with a penchant for doom and atmospheric resonances, centered around a female identity that spans different dimensions, from an ethereal presence to a primal rawness. Bianca’s new and first self-titled album is an enigmatic eight-step journey into the power of the human mind and the unconscious dimension as a messenger of precious insights for interpreting reality. Eight visions that unfold between dream and nightmare, for a deep dive into the non-material aspects of human life and their transformative potential. No idea of religion, but a radical atheist and humanistic stance within the musical language of black metal, merging melodic nuances in an atmospheric embrace. A sorrowful struggle runs through the veins of Bianca’s music, chilling to the core, yet captivating and transporting the listener to uncertainty.

The music of Belgian trio Bloed sits at the intersection of sludge, post‑metal and alternative rock. It is a project of brothers Toon, Tuur, and sister Fieke. Their songs are built on crushing, downtuned riffs, slow‑burn dynamics, and an emotionally raw intensity that shifts between brooding atmospheres and explosive climaxes. With a focus on mood, groove and cathartic delivery, Bloed creates a visceral listening experience that resonates with fans of weighty, introspective modern metal, industrial and noise. Bloed binds us all. Born from one.

Dimscûa quickly became a rising star after their debut EP ‘Dust Eater’. One of the most praised new statements in the UK heavy underground in the last few years. A brutal slab consisting of heavy, slow‑burn riffs and rich, atmospheric dynamics. Built on massive walls of sound, soaring crescendos and raw and heartfelt vocals. Their music blends low‑tuned, groove‑driven sludge with the emotional weight of post‑metal, creating a cathartic and immersive experience that deals with themes of grief, loss, and inner struggle.

Patristic from Rome, Italy merges relentless death metal aggression with atmospheric, ritualistic black metal elements. Rooted in themes of early Christian philosophy and the “patristic” era, their music explores the tension between pagan antiquity and the rise of Christian doctrine, delivered through dense, dissonant riffs, thunderous drums, and howling, incantatory vocals. Their debut full‑length ‘Catechesis’ showcase a dark, cinematic approach to extreme metal, where fast‑paced, vicious passages coexist with brooding, atmospheric passages. With ties to other prominent Italian extreme acts, Patristic stands as a compelling new voice in the European blackened death metal scene—combining theological depth, sonic brutality, and a distinctly ominous atmosphere.

The music of Young Widows is built on gritty, angular riffs, pounding rhythms, and a raw, emotive vocal delivery that balances aggression with vulnerability. The sound of this American band sits at the crossroads of post‑hardcore, sludge, and artful noise rock. Over the years, Young Widows have developed a reputation for tense, atmospheric songs that feel both claustrophobic and expansive, drawing listeners into a world of dark textures and emotional intensity. Their live performances amplify the urgency and unpredictability of their recordings, making them a compelling act for fans of adventurous, boundary‑pushing heavy music.
