Public Image Ltd
In 2023, British punk band Public Image Ltd released their first album in 8 years: “End of the World”. The band was founded in 1978 and is the project of John Lydon, former front man of Sex Pistols.
PiL also released the song ‘Hawaii’ in 2023, the most personal song John Lydon ever shared. The track is a love letter to his wife Nora, who died of Alzheimer’s in the spring of 2023. The album was also dedicated to her.
After a number of personnel changes, nowadays the London group consists of guitarist Lu Edmonds, bassist Scot Firth (Elvis Costello, Steve Winwood, John Martyn) and drummer Mark Roberts (The Godfathers, Neneh Cherry, Massive Attack). In 1978, the band debuted with the unrivalled album “First Issue”. After this, they released eight more studio albums. After a long sabbatical that started in 1992, the band reunited in 2009. Their music resulted in 5 UK Top 20 singles and 5 UK Top 20 albums. Club classic ‘This Is Not a Lovesong’ and the single ‘Rise’ are the best-known hits.
