Is it boogie? Seventies funk? Obscure disco? Or an ode to Burgess? It is all of the above and none of them at the same time. These flavours clash and blend. Whatever blows from the speakers is exactly what the groove doctor prescribed: Another Taste.
The Dutch collective created their sound in the home studio of Danilo Plessow (MCDE), working with tape and analogue equipment to find beauty in imperfection. One of those takes found its way into the world and went viral even before the first vinyl release.
Live, Another Taste feels like a family reunion: exuberant enough to shake the room, but with a soft underbelly at all times. That same energy can be heard in the studio recordings, where tracks sound like an audience that refuses to stand still.
After their versatile debut in 2023, “Another Taste II” (2025) is an even fuller immersion: tighter songs, richer arrangements and hidden narratives for sharp listeners. Through characters, interludes, artwork and lyrics, the album invites you into an imaginary metropole – a different sound, a safe haven for those looking for liveliness in confusing times.
The band has grown as well: next to original members Bob Roche, Bobby van Putten, Barend Lippens and Teun van Zoggel, they are now joined by Sarina Voorn, Diogo Carvalho and Florian Verhagen. This extended chemistry has brought them to venues and festivals like Love Supreme, Lost Village, ADE, KOKO London, Jazz Café London and New Morning Paris.
Another Taste continues to carve out its own space by keeping the music live, human and irresistible at all times.
