London quartet The Skints has worked its way up from the depths of the underground punk and ska scene to become a unique name within the international reggae world. The band combines influences like reggae, soul, punk, ska, and grime into its own unique “tropical punk” style.
The band, which consists of Jamie, Josh, Jon, and Marcia, prefers to call their raw mix of ska, dub, reggae, hip hop, and punk with an urban attitude “East London reggae”.
Inspired by Jamaican music from the early eighties, The Skints managed to put their own spin on it in the 21st century, paying tribute to musical pioneers like The Specials and Madness. The gentlemen and lady quickly gained a lot of appreciation. Thanks in part to extensive touring, they have built up a large fan base. In recent years, the band has performed at Glastonbury, Summerjam, Lowlands, and Zwarte Cross, among others.
With sunny, feel-good grooves and a creative approach, the London quartet has made a name for itself worldwide, working its way up from the underground ska/punk scene to become a global reggae phenomenon. Highly acclaimed albums, including “Part & Parcel”, “FM”, and “Swimming Lessons”, not only secured the band significant airplay but also numerous collaborations, including ones with Protoje and Jesse Royal.
