Think of music, enthusiasm, happiness and lust for life and one of the first artists to think of will be Blanks. With his YouTube channel “Music by Blanks” he quickly found an international audience. At the age of 15 he started his channel, one that has 1.3 million subscribers nowadays.
Blanks is not a typical Youtuber, but a musician that uses his online platform to share his passion and love for music. He reinvigorated well-known songs through his cover versions, gaining the attention of Armin van Buuren, Ariana Grande and Post Malone in the process. Ever since his eighties-style version of ‘Better Now’ went viral several times over, he started concentrating on his own writings. With the help of his Instagram followers, he wrote instant bops like ‘Wave’, ‘Bittersweet’ and ‘Higher’. A new series called “Blanks Invites” features studio collaborations with artists like San Holo, Dayglow, Alfie Templeman and Sheppard.
In October 2021 the multi-instrumentalist from Groningen released his internationally well-regarded debut album “Nothing Lasts Forever and That’s OK”. With his music he’s not just successful online: traditional media have discovered him as well. He was the first guest in the new TV program “POP22”, and he will feature in the new season of ‘Beste Zangers’.
