Daniel Romano released no fewer than nine albums in 2020, including a live album, a “Beatles”-inspired album and a country album. The latter was a welcome sight for fans, as it’s his 2013 country classic “Come Cry With Me” that especially struck a chord with fans. Ever since then he had not released anything in the same country style however. Note that everything he released was of an exceptional quality, even if he managed to surprise everyone with every new release.
His image as a ‘collage artist’ is an apt one. With his most recent album “How Ill Thy World Is Ordered”, Romano and his band are as versatile as ever. They are dabbling in the swing and sway of softer sentiments, and show that they can be both tender and brave. The record is full of surprising songs, like ‘Rat Without a Tale’, while the listener is treated to more honest to-the-bones lead guitar riffs than Romano has ever recorded before.
