Fatoumata Diawara

The music of singer, guitarist and actress Fatoumata Diawara originates from the sounds of the Wassoulou region. Diawara gives a voice to the young African woman: proud of her heritage, but with a vision that’s full of trust in the future. She sings about the beauty of life, as well as about everyday politics affecting the lives of women. Fatoumata has a strong stage presence, a young and strong African musician whose star is still rising.

The Malinese singer broke through in 2011 internationally with her debut album “Fatou”. This album sounds daring and refreshing, without losing touch with traditional African influences. In 2018 her second studio album “Fenfo (Something to Say)” came out, which was another innovative step without losing sight of her roots. Since then, she has been collaborating with numerous artists, including Damon Albarn, Roberto Fonseca, Toumani Diabaté, Disclosure, Yael Naim and Bassekou Kouyaté.
