Jalen Ngonda is known for his soulful voice and impressive musical talent. The young American from Washington D.C. grew up with the Motown collection of his father and came into his own in Liverpool where he studied at the Academy of Performing Arts.
The first album “Come Around and Love Me” (2023) came out through Daptone Records, the renowned Brooklyn label that is successfully keeping the classic funk and soul sound from the 60s and 70s alive. At Daptone records, they are convinced Jalen has the talent to rise to the level of the late Charles Bradley and Sharon Jones.
Ngonda easily traverses between genres and periods. “I create a blend of soul and r&b that also contain elements from The Beach Boys and The Beatles”, he stated.
