Sharon Kovacs is a singer with a dark, soulful voice and a sound entirely her own, influenced by greats such as Betty Davis, Etta James, Tina Turner, as well as by the melancholic tones of Amy Winehouse, Shirley Bassey, and Portishead.
She achieved an international breakthrough in 2014 with the EP “My Love”, a European hit partly recorded in Cuba, and has since performed at major festivals such as North Sea Jazz, Lowlands, Pinkpop, Glastonbury, and Sziget. Her albums “Shades of Black” (2015) and “Cheap Smell” (2018) were internationally acclaimed. “Child of Sin” (2023), featuring a duet with Rammstein singer Till Lindemann and influences from a Turkish Gypsy ensemble, was the highest new entry in the Dutch Album Top 100 and was followed by sold-out shows worldwide. Her long-awaited new album will be released in the second half of 2026, one on which she uses electronic music as a solid foundation for the first time. Influences from Berlin industrial techno and early electronic music of the 70s merge with her characteristic, soulful sound, resulting in a familiar, nostalgic yet fresh and stimulating sound that underscores her evolution as one of Europe’s most distinctive voices.
