Lee Fields has been channelling the spirit of soul ever since he was born in 1951. As a teenager, he moved to New York in the late sixties to start his career as a singer.
And he was successful, as soon the American artist turned into a phenomenon that went out on tour with acts like Kool & The Gang, Sammy Gordon and the Hip-Huggers, O.V. Wright, Darrell Banks and Little Royal. Inspired by the young James Brown, Lee Fields was often referred to as “Little JB”.
In 2009 he had a worldwide breakthrough with his album “My World”, and album that didn’t only gain a lot of praise, but also managed to put him on the map as a first-rate singer and musician. Lee Fields is still one of the front-runners of the soul genre, not just through his live performances but also through his new work.
His latest album “Sentimental Fool” from 2022 is an excellent example of this. His music is often cut up and sampled by hip hop artists like J. Cole and Travis Scott. New work is on the way and on Lee Fields is taking a full band to Doornroosje in July.
