Melvins, the spiritual godfathers of the grunge and sludge metal genre are coming to Doornroosje to celebrate their 40th anniversary! This will be an evening in which grunge, noise and punk rock will be praised from all sides in both rooms of Doornroosje.
Tickets for this show are also valid for the Soul Glo and Militarie Gun show in the small hall. All bands alternate.
With their typical sludgy rock sound, as well as the pleasantly absurd lyrics, Melvins have pushed plenty of boundaries over the decades. By massively slowing down elements of punk they managed to create a brand-new genre of their own. Within that experimental rock niche, they have been extremely prolific: in the past four decades, Melvins released more than 30 albums and tons of EPs. The American band has been massively influential with their enormous body of work on genres like sludge and doom metal. Highly recommended to fans of bands like The Jesus Lizard, SLEEP, Kyuss and Neurosis, but also to fans of Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr., Swans, Black Flag and Flipper.
