Stygian Bough is the unique collaborative project of doom heavyweights Bell Witch and dark folk artist Aerial Ruin.
On their debut “Stygian Bough Volume I” from 2020, they combine the pensive melancholy and acoustic depth of Aerial Ruin with the all-encompassing, heavy funeral doom of Bell Witch. This collaboration results in extended compositions that find a balance between quiet folk, an intense atmosphere and monumental outbursts. The engaging themes that deal with mythology, loss and transience offer the sound an additional dimension. The second album is on the way and will come out soon.
40 Watt Sun is coming along as a special guest. This project fronted by singer/guitarist Patrick Walker, known from the band Warning, offers melancholy slow core and doom with an immense emotional depth. Intimate songs, carrier by Walker’s typical voice and sober guitar-playing, are front and centre. The songs take their time but are very intense, with personal lyrics about loss, love and transience. Each album is a melancholy, heart-wrenching listening experience with elements of pure beauty.
