The Southern River Band
Australia and rock music are inextricably linked with one another. Next to well-known staples like AC/DC, Wolfmother, Tame Impala, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Amyl & The Sniffers, there are numerous new rock bands that set themselves apart and manage to break through on a global scale. The Perth-based rockers of Southern River Band are part of this category. They are aware of all the rock cliches, but apply them so well that they managed to break through in their home country. What’s not to like about a heavy slice of rock music, falsetto vocals, too-tight spandex pants and screeching guitar solos?
Band members Cal Kramer, Dr. Dobbin’ Donny Carter, Pat Smith and Todd Pickett are best experienced live on stage. They have played for a sold-out Merleyn before and are now coming back to Doornroosje. Their most recent album “D.I.Y.” is a big hit in Australia. They are heading to Europe to promote it over here as well. There’s also a new album on the way, which is expected to come out in 2026.
