An extreme metal high mass of note on this winter night in Nijmegen: Bölzer, The Ruins of Beverast, Vitriol and Trepaneringsritualen.
Swiss metal duo Bölzer have been making waves for over a decade with their uncompromising and atmospheric mix of black and death metal. Front man Okoi Jones and drummer Fabian Wyrsch manage to crease a huge, colossal sound with just the two of them. It is a primal force packaged into heroic compositions, dynamic rhythms and a mystical atmosphere. All of this makes Bölzer a more than unique band within the extreme metal scene.
The Ruins of Beverast is the solo project of German multi-instrumentalist Alexander von Meilenwald, who has been a staple in the extreme metal scene for years. Von Meilenwald creates his own dark universe on each of his albums, combining ominous, atmospheric black and doom with layered, epic compositions full of uncanny riffs, cerebral drums and liturgic vocals. Love shows are always grand and captivating, mesmerizing the audience through its darkness.
American band Vitriol use unbridled fury and technical precision to take their death metal to the outer limits, driven by intensity, anger and skills. Their sound is a ruthless storm of raging riffs, complex structures and a volatile, raw edge.
Swedish band Trepaneringsritualen will open tonight’s proceedings with the darkest and most nihilistic dark ambient and noise that you will hear all year.
