English progressive metal band TesseracT is one of the pioneers of the so-called djent genre, which is prog metal with complex, polyrhythmic structures. TesseracT’s music isn’t just for scholars though. Partly due to the accessible vocals of current front man Daniel Tompkins, you get sucked into their music quite easily. Before you know it, you’ll be headbanging to polyrhythms.
There are albums to listen to and bands to look at, but there are very few collectives that you truly need to experience. TesseracT is definitely one of those. The British band takes you on an engaging, suspenseful journey with many layers of sound, polyrhythmic structures and experimentation. Just like for example Tool, Deftones and Radiohead, the band comes with innovative touch points, giving a new impulse to progressive rock and metal. Every now and then you can hear the propulsion of a band like Meshuggah, but the melody is still the dominating factor in TesseracT’s sound. The band will come to Nijmegen to promote new album “War of Being”.
Novelists from France offers a mix of pop, progressive rock, djent and easily digestible metalcore. With Camille, the band has a powerful front woman, one that enhances the overall band sound with her unbridled passion and energy. They are the perfect opener to TesseracT.
